Autumn update

Hi folks, We hope this finds you well. We have just done our last festival of the summer and thought it was time to send an update. It's been a busy year with 42 gigs down since April and there are stories attached to every one of them. Below are a few highlights.

At Sidmouth Folk Festival we played just before Chris Wood - one of our absolute favourites and a big inspiration on our music. We joined Chris on stage at the end of his set to sing a couple of songs.

Every now and then everything comes together to make a gig that little bit special and Fire in the Mountain festival was definitely one of those times. There were so many inspiring friends and musicians in the audience for our gig on the Sunday night and we left the stage with the whole place carrying on the chorus to 'Keep your Hand on the Plough'. The whole festival felt like the start of a new, vibrant, edgier folk scene that we're really excited to be a part of.

On 17 June we got some friends together to play a ceilidh as part of the Great Get Together - a series of over 100,000 events held nationwide to honour Jo Cox and the principles that she stood for. Our event was held on the Arts Ark which is a floating venue on the Thames just over from where she lived.

Jo was a friend and neighbour of Jimmy's so it was a real honour to play with her family and friends and to celebrate her life.

In July Sid recorded and co-produced an album for the Norfolk Broads - a fantastic vocal group and close friends of ours. We both played on the album and had a great few days in a studio nestled in the heart of Somerset.

We performed in the 750 year-old Chagford Church down in Devon at the start of May. It was a brilliant and diverse mix of people - the local (slightly surprised looking) parishioners, plenty of folkies from the area, and a big group of old friends of ours who work as farmers and growers down that way. It was also a stunning space to sing into.

We recently played in the Victoria Hall, Settle. It is England's oldest surviving music hall and an absolutely incredible venue to play music. And the audience were in booming voice!

The event was organised by Mike Harding as part of the Settle Folk Festival. Mike has been a big support to us over the years and it was great to link up with him in his home town.

The autumn brings a slight easing in the touring schedule but we are still out and about. We're then touring more intensively in November and early-December.
