Many a Thousand officially released 7 September

September 2, 2018

Hi all,

We hope you've had an amazing summer. We've been out and about playing the festivals and we've been working hard to prepare for the launch of our new album 'Many a Thousand' - an album made possible by the many kind donations we received through our crowdfunding campaign.

The official release date is 7 September but you can pre-order CDs and downloads through our website - http://www.jimmyandsidduo.com/

We'll be launching the album at the very grand Kings Place in London on 6 September and then touring across the UK. It's our biggest ever tour and we're travelling to most areas of the country so do come out if you can - we'd love to see you.

We'll be joined for a few of the dates by 3 incredible musicians (Tom Moore, Fred Harper, and Twm Dylan) and a master sound engineer (Neil Segrott) so we'll be able to share the album as it was recorded.

All dates below and more info on our website

And to entice you all to come and see us on tour we've just released a new video! Filmed and edited by the very talented people at Caraway Studios, it's one of the tracks from the new album called Turning of the Year. It's a song written by Jimmy about the healing power of a coastal storm. We hope you like the video - please share it far and wide.

We've been bowled over by the feedback so far on the album. Songlines selected it as a 'Top of the World' release, gave it a 5 star review, and used our track Hawk's Call on their cover mount CD. In their words -

'A seamless mix of original and traditional songs, beautifully weighted playing and a preoccupation with profound questions of political, social and environmental concern.'

The Guardian now only review one folk release each month and then choose 3 'Folk Picks' so we were delighted to be included this month. They said -

'A lovely, rousing collection of politically charged traditional ballads and originals.'

Folk Radio UK have reviewed the album saying -

'Aldridge and Goldsmith have created a record whose songs are immediate and politically necessary, and whose melodies will remain in the memory for years to come.'

We've also had some BBC radio play with 'Mark Radcliffe' playing our song 'Working Chap' on the BBC Radio 2 folk show. Other play on Sunday Folk and on Fine Acoustic Music, and we were on the most recent Folk Show on Folk Radio UK.

So we're delighted with the response so far and we're expecting some more coverage in the coming weeks. We'll keep our Facebook and Twitter pages up to date with all developments.

Thank you all for your support. We hope to see you all somewhere along our tour.

Jimmy & Sid
